JOOST DEKKERS

Born in Utrecht in 1968 and raised in the surroundings of Utrecht in a village called Zeist. In 1987 I moved to the Hague to study and stayed there until 1998. After my education I started working as a freelance graphic designer under the name 'de case'. When I moved to the centre of Amsterdam in 1998, I took ‘de case’ with me and pursued my work from there.

Being a graphic designer for the last 15 years and doing some modelling as well, I got inspired by photography more and more. So a little while ago I decided to pick up the camera again and start working as a photographer too. With this step a long cherished dream has been realised. Photography and graphic design is a perfect combination, and yet both professions can easily co-exist.

Still living and working in Amsterdam, I use a professional camera to share the beauty of the world and its people with you. This results in portraits of people at several locations, images of breathtaking landscapes and beautiful items you would normally overlook or simply pass by.

As my portfolio shows, my best companion (black labrador named Keet) loves to be 'in the picture’ and joins me a lot while I am taking my photographs.
